Chickering, 5’6”
Parlor Grand Piano & new bench, serial # 96961
Finish:
Mahogany Satin Finish.
Description: Jonas Chickering is the father of
the American Piano industry and his Boston factory was renowned for
its high quality and musicality. Highly desired, Chickering pianos
have graced the homes of many American musicians and dignitaries
including Abraham Lincoln. This piano was manufactured in the Boston
facility in 1908 and is a lovely example of their art including the
Prince of Wales fluted legs. It is a true period piece and is a real
value. This piano is indeed quite playable but will require
rebuilding within the next 10 years or so. We have only regulated
the action to make the piano more playable as well as reset tuning
pins. This piano is offered in its present condition for the person
who wants a bona fide period piece that they can refinish to their
specifications. Its price is far below market value even for an
unplayable Chickering!
UPDATE: This
piano is being refinished and will receive a high lustre lacquer
finish that will highlight the grain of the mahogany. This
will be a showpiece !!
